About Me

Thank you for visiting my website!

I love meeting new people and helping people getting around Tokyo and other areas.

Strolling around familiar places with foreign visitors always gives me

a fresh look at the city, a sense of wonder and discovery, and I would love to share

that excitement with you as well as sharing my knowledge about Japan.

I am a national licensed tour guide (English-speaking guide) and a certified Japanese language teacher. I love Japanese traditional performing arts, kimono, handicrafts and cooking, architecture, anime and nature walk.

I can perform Japanese classical dance and Sencha tea ceremony myself.

Please let me know your interests and requests. I will tailor your own itinerary and

help to make your trip to Japan a success!

Here's a little more about me...

I was born and raised in Japan, have lived and worked in central Tokyo for 10 years from 1980's to early 90's. Then I moved to California and lived there for a while as a stay-at-home mom/homemaker. I've also lived in New Zealand with my family for a couple of years.

I have one daughter, and I've raised her with rice and miso soup, even though we were away from Japan. I've made her Bento (Japanese boxed lunch) daily for 15 years during her school days. Japanese home cooking is one my specialities.

I've learned Japanese classical dance while living in the US - from a wonderful teacher/professional dancer straight from Japan. I am Natori - a dancer who is given a stage name from a long-established dance association called Hanayagi-ryu. I've also learned Sencha tea ceremony - which we use tea leaves instead of powdered tea - and deepened my knowledge, understanding and love of Japanese traditional culture.

As a certified Japanese language teacher, I teach classes and private lessons. It is my joy to see students' delighted faces while they learn new words and grammars, being able to communicate in Japanese.

In the past few years, I've been studying history, geography and tourist attractions in Japan to become a national licensed tour guide, while actively involved in the volunteer group which provides free guiding services in Tokyo. As a volunteer, I've guided people from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and France. I've obtained my professional guide license in early 2018, and here I am, ready to show you the best of Japan!
